Customizable Dog Training and Obedience Programs

“You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” At Alden's Kennels, we don’t believe that old adage is true. In fact, we work every day to prove it wrong! At our professional dog training center in McHenry County, Illinois, we understand each dog – and owner – has individual training needs. That’s why we start with a consultation with a trainer to discuss your training goals. Then it’s simply a matter of choosing the best program, or combination of programs, from our wide range of options.

Board and Train

We understand the hectic pace of life today – for you and your four-legged friends. If weekly group classes just won’t fit into your schedule, our boarding instruction program may be exactly what you need. Through this program, your dog stays at Alden’s Kennels for a professional, two-week behavioral instruction course. We work daily with your pup on the specific obedience and training issues identified.

After the first week on-site, you’ll receive a video update of your dog’s progress. And at the end of his or her stay, you’ll be invited to participate in a special lesson with your dog so you’re prepared with the tips and tools necessary to maintain the training your dog received during their stay.

Day Training

We're very excited to announce our newest program: Day Training! For those of you that don't care to spend the nights without your pup by your side, simply drop them off in the morning and pick them up in the evening. We'll spend lots of time one-on-one with them teaching them everything they need to know to reach your goals. This could be simple obedience and manners or even learning to be a Service Dog.

This program runs Monday - Friday. Drop of times are available from 9:00 am with pickup times available between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. Register your dog today and start a fun and rewarding experience that will help you and your pup reach all your training goals!

Group Classes

Participate in one or more of our group classes and strengthen your special bond with your pup. Each class takes a two-prong approach to dog training – giving your dog positive skills and behaviors while also empowering you to carry out an effective obedience program at home.

These hour-long classes meet weekly for six weeks. The rate for group classes is $175.

  • OBED 101: Beginner Group Class

Our Good Dog Class is a beginner level obedience class designed to introduce you and your dog to effective communication. We will introduce sit, sit-stay, down, down-stay, coming when called, climb and loose leash walking in this 6 week program. Graduates will have been introduced to all the behaviors needed to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test.
  • OBED 201: Intermediate Group Class

Building on the behaviors taught in our Good Dog Class, this intermediate program introduces new behaviors such as heeling and wait. More importantly, we begin to introduce the three D's: Duration, distance and distraction to make your dog a more solid citizen in the real world.
  • OBED 301: Advanced Group Class

This class is great for those looking to compete with their dogs, certify as therapy dogs or simply to have the neighborhood bragging rights. We'll introduce standard mobility assistance equipment such as wheelchairs and crutches to your dog as well as adding in trickier mavuevers like finishing to heel position, pivots and more!
