March 11th 2012 McHenry County Animal Welfare Coalition Adoption Day Event 12:00pm-4:00pm

Bambi, the astonishing black-and-white Pomeranian from Aldens Kennels known for his multitude of talents, is doing his part in the battle against breast cancer by joining the Paws for a Cause Community Dog Walk this coming Sunday, Oct. 9, starting in the Horse Fair Park in Spring Grove. The event, which will raise funds for the Centegra Gavers Breast Center and the Breast Care Fund, starts at 12:45 p.m., with late registrations starting at noon.

Bambi has already scheduled an appointment with his hair stylist to appropriately dress up for the event, much as NFL athletes did this past weekend, adorning himself with pink feathers and pink highlights. However, as one who clearly has not allowed fame to go to his head, he plans to participate as one of many four-legged walkers.

"Bambi is fully behind this effort and wants to do everything he can to benefit this worthy cause," said Bambi's owner and manager, Janet Domrase. "In fact, he's actively seeking sponsors to raise the kind of funds you'd expect from a celebrity."

The event will conclude in the Horse Fair Park at 4 p.m. with light refreshments and a chance to visit with sponsors, including Aldens Kennels and Bambi. Domrase said Bambi will sign autographs and greet visitors with his customary enthusiasm and liberal licking.

Walkers and owners are expected to maintain a leash-bound connection and owners are asked to practice polite and proper pet ownership by picking up anything four-legged participants leave behind.
